The University of Twente is an entrepreneurial research university in the Netherlands with approx. 8500 students and 3000 employees. The BEST4ROAD project is conducted by the Department of Construction Management and Engineering. Main research activities of the Department are in the area of infrastructure management and seek to gain new insights in the social, technical and environmental aspects of managing modern infrastructure assets.

DRC, established in 1991, is offering qualified, innovative and independent consultancy services for the entire life cycle of traffic infrastructures. Focus of activities is in the fields of road design, construction and maintenance as well as project management including risk management and procedural management. Project experience includes also the implementation phase like construction supervision and technical consultancy for operation and maintenance of roads. Several employees of the company are members of national and international advisory boards, committees and working groups. The experience of more than two decades meets in customised software solutions for operational and pavement management used to support public road authorities.
