BEST4ROAD is a two-year project that addresses the large turnover of personnel in the road maintenance sector by looking at maintenance procurement as a means to cope with the knowledge loss of National Road Agencies (NRA). It will determine the lessons learnt at NRA’s and based on that will develop a number of hands-on tools and step-by-step guidance for procuring road maintenance taking the current and future challenges of NRA’s into account.

the consortium
BEST4ROAD is an international project bringing together researchers from four European countries and combines practitioners and academics with different, yet complementary skill-sets.
the framework
In order to study and compare maintenance procurement across different countries, BEST4ROAD uses a comprehensive framework describing how maintenance activities are procured, what the drivers are for procurement practices, and what the consequences are of these practices.

Our Partner
BEST4ROAD is funded by CEDR Transnational Road Research Programme Call 2014. CEDR brings together 28 road directors of European countries and aims at contributing to the development of road infrastructure as part of an integrated transport system and promoting co-operation between national road agencies.
